SA Southern Darts Orienteering Squad
The SA Southern Darts caters for young orienteers just entering orienteering (novices) until they move to high school or the year they turn 12.
Sometimes we train in two groups to allow for experience.
We hope that members will enjoy orienteering while learning the basics of the sport.
Gradually you will progress to more difficult courses as you become more experienced and confident
You will progress to the Junior Arrows when you are old enough.
The Southern Darts train about once a month.
In addition the Squad conducts Introduction to Orienteering days and camps at Very Easy, Easy and Moderate orienteering skill levels.
The events at which training will be conducted in the near future are detailed below and at others there may be a duty coach to assist Squad members.

Here are upcoming dates for 2019
July 9th and 10th
There will be an opportunity to join the juniors for a couple of days doing training activities during the school holidays. Darts are welcome on the 9th and/or 10th of July.
Watch the enews and the facebook page for more information.
At our last training we used an exercise on Attack points, first going to the attack point (a red dot on the map) and then fining the cotnrol from there.
Great work Darts, on completing this course. It was a tricky one because of the type of country that we were in. The skill of picking Attack Points is a moderate skill, so I would expect for you to be thinking about these form about the age of 10 upwards. If you completed the exercise but are not yet of that age then you did extra well.
Thanks to Bridget for setting it for us.
