About Orienteering SA Strategic Planning
Every 3 to 4 years, Orienteering SA’s governing Council presents a new Strategic Plan to focus on the key strategies to increase participation and sustainability of our uniquely challenging and technical sport.
All orienteers and all stakeholders in orienteering, including landowners, sporting bodies, supporters and sponsors, are encouraged to comment and contribute to the plan.
Orienteering SA Strategic Plan 2026 - 2029
A draft plan for the period 2026 - 2029 is currently under review, this period is to align with the Orienteering Australia Strategy Plan period, their plan is available here.
The new OSA plan will cover the same areas as the OA Plan

The plan is to support OSA's Purpose
"To create a strong community of orienteers across South Australia, from young families, students and adults of all ages through to elite athletes and those seeking fitness and recreation,
with all enjoying a sense of inclusion, well-being and achievement, thus increasing the number of orienteers year by year."
Orienteering SA Strategic Plan 2022-2024
The current plan has been agreed to be extended to 2025. A new plan is to be developed for the period 2026 - 2029 to align with Orienteering Australia Strategic Planning. Agreed at the 2025 Aug Council Meeting.
Led by Robin Uppill AO, the Orienteering SA Strategic Plan 2022-2024 draws on experience and thinking over decades by hard-working individuals who introduced the sport in schools and set up the association and club structure.
The plan is built around 5 pillars:

- Technical and Event Management
- Marketing and Communication
- Supporting Volunteers
- Administration and Governance
