We’re excited to Aus3Days 2024 Logoannounce that registration for the Australian 3 Days 2024 is now open. The carnival committee expects over 600 orienteers, their friends and families to attend the events from 29 March to 1 April, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Adelaide Hills and Murraylands regions. 

What’s in store:

- Four days of challenging orienteering: NOL, WRE, Sledge, and more. Test your skills in diverse and demanding terrain.

- Social fun: Reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

- No shortage of ways to spend your free time: this is an area world-famous for its wines, locally grown food, and the world’s largest safari experience outside Africa.

For campers seeking affordable accommodation options, don’t delay in booking a spot for your tent or trailer (no RVs). The communal campsite for up to 50 people is conveniently situated near the Monarto Safari Park.

Bring friends, family and fellow orienteers to the Orienteering SA Awards, on Sunday 19 November - we'll be setting up from 4.30PM and starting at 5PM sharp so please be there before 5. The presentations will be followed by a BYO picnic in the grounds of Glandore Community Centre - see the map below. Looking forward to seeing you there and sharing the war stories and achievements of 2023!

The OSA Presentation evening was held on a cold, windy and showery evening at the Glenunga Hub.  Outdoor activities of Direction-O and Wombat Hunt were organized by Bridget Anderson and partaken between showers, although the wind moved some of the hidden wombats.

The Adelaide series of parklands – street events comprising the Twilight Series begins on 19th November, with a series of 8 events through to the end of January.

Each event will provide the following courses

• Short 20 min winning time, 2-3 km, Easy – suitable for the younger juniors and newcomers
• Medium 30 min winning time, 3.5 - 4.5 km, also suitable for newcomers who want a longer course
• Long 40 min winning time, 5.5- 6.5 km, for the fitter person
• Scatter-O 45 min winning time, 5.5-7.5 km, choose the controls to be visited

The basics of the orienteering map and course used for these events are shown below:

The areas used generally comprise parklands, with some of the longer courses having some street sections.

These events are open to anyone to participate, and you can jog or walk as an individual, or as a group of family members or friends. 

Event fees are listed under each event, and for the full program see the Summer Orienteering page.

Folloiwing the Twilight Series, the format shfts to shorter courses through February - with each event comprising the Sprint Series offering 3 courses (around 3.5 km, 2 km and 1.5km) using more detailed maps.

Friday night summer orienteering begins on Friday 15th November at Springfield, the start is in Mitcham Reserve. Old Belair Rd.  Details are here

The series continues through to Mid- December, recommencing in the New Year.  The event areas are a mixture of suburban parks and streets.  Each event has three line courses, the shortest around 2 km for newcomers and younger juniors, with 2 longer courses around 4 and 6 km.  A Scatter courses where you choose the controls to visit is also available. 

The Twilight Series is followed in February 2020 by the 4 event Sprint Series, where shorter courses on more detailed urban maps are used for each event.

Other orienteering activities are also held including Wednesday evening orienteering training.

The 2018 - 19 Twilight Series starts on Friday 23rd November, with an event starting at 6 PM in the south eastern Adelaide Parklands. Each event will over 3 standard line courses (visit the controls in order) with distances around 2, 4 and 6 km (straight line distance). In addition a scatter course is available, where you choose the controls to visit and do so in any order.

All courses are available to runner and walkers, teams and individuals, and involve simple map reading techniques similar to reading a street map. Start times are between 6 to 7 PM, so you can start any time in that interval, provided you finish by 8pm when courses close.

For each event, pre-entry by the Tuesday evening before the event, at discounted fees is possible – see the event links on the right of this page. For SE Parklands event only, deadline has been extended to Wednesday evening. Directions to each event are in the event details.

The annual OSA Presentation afternoon-evening was held on Sunday 26th Nov at the Glenunga Hub. The event got underway with a short 2 person relay, the last part of each leg was a maze section.  The map and courses were planned by our 2017 Coach in Residence Manu Jurado.

 Friday evening summer orienteering starts on Friday 17th September in North Adelaide.

 The events will have three standard orienteering line courses from around 2 km to 6 km, plus a scatter course when you can select the controls you visit.  All events start at 6 PM, with starts available through to 7 PM. Shorter courses are in the parklands, whilst those wanting a longer urn may have some street running.

 Orienteering is an activity where the whole family can participate together as a group, or split up and do the courses individually.
