Event Name World Orienteering Day: 45 min Score Night Event at Thorndon Park

Tintookies Orienteering Club invites you to celebrate World Orienteering Day with a 45 min Night Score Event at the Thorndon Park Reserve. This event is not suited to beginners who should be accompanied by someone able to compete in a night event.  Full electronic timing and instant results. Bring a torch (head type preferably) and watch.

  • Parking is available up until sunset. After that you will need to park on Hamilton Tce. However you can still exit the parking area after dark.
  • You are also invited Shared Tea to follow at about 7: 30 pm:  This will be held at the Tintookies Shed. This is located at the corner of Maryvale Rd & Gorge Rd at the rear of the old church. Please bring a plate to share and any drinks you require. Also BYO seat.
  • Cost: Flat Fee of $5 per map to be paid on the night at Registration  which will be open from 5:30 - 6:10 pm. This will be located 100 metres to north of entry gate.
  • Pre entry is now open via Eventor and closes on Sun 21st May. Only limited maps for enter on the night entries will be available so it is preferable to pre enter. If you wish to compete as a group (no extra cost if you have the one map) please enter other group members using the same SI number. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Mass Start at 6:15 pm. Heavy score penalties apply for late return from 7:00 pm. All points will be lost after 7:05pm. By then it will be completely dark (no moon) with lighting only available around the kiosk and toilets.

At most events you can enter on the day at the event, however some events require pre-entry and this is listed in the event information.

Bringing a larger group - if you are coming in a group of 6 or more people (e.g school group), please let the contact person for the event know so they can ensure that enough course maps are available for your group.

Event Cancellation - very rarely events have to be cancelled e.g. very hot or cold weather, so always check the event details for updates close to the event
